The full process chain, in-house

Precision sand casting

No-bake, air-set sand casting in iron, steel and aluminium. The resin-bonded mould is rigid, so it holds a tighter tolerance and a better surface finish than green sand, and parts come out closer to final shape with less machining to follow.

Near-net-shape steel

A proprietary steel developed for the composite tooling industry, cast close to final form to reduce machining stock.

Low-volume and prototype casting

No minimum order. Single-piece prototypes through to runs of a thousand, cast the same way at every quantity.

CNC machining

4- and 5-axis milling of metals, aluminium and tooling board on Doosan and Acctek equipment, for prototype, short-run and small-batch work.

Composite tooling and parts

Moulds and patterns cut from PU and epoxy engineering board, and carbon fibre, glass fibre and kevlar components for aerospace and defence. Delivered through the CX Composites division.

Design and tooling

3D part design, DFM review and in-house manufacture of patterns, moulds and tooling.

Heat treatment and finishing

Stress relief and heat treatment to 1,000 °C, shot blasting and surface finishing.

Reverse engineering

Reproduction from a sample, worn original or legacy component, measured, modelled and remade.

Assembly and finished components

Machined, inspected and assembled parts supplied ready to fit, not raw castings or blanks.

Single source

One supplier and one quotation, responsible for every stage above.

02 · Near net shape

Cast near net shape

Mould tools for the composite industry are cast near net shape in a proprietary in-house steel, then CNC machined to final dimension on the same site. This reduces machining time and material waste, and removes third-party handling between casting and finishing.
